4. Douketius/Ducezio (c.488 BC – c.440 BC)

Born in Mineo, leader of the Sicels and founder of a league of united Sicilian city-states including Morgantina. Aetna (Catania) and Motyon. In 452, after having united most central Sicily, he founded the city of Palice, city dedicated to the gods Palici, near the Lacus Palicorum. Few years later, defeated by Syracuse and Agrigento at Nomae, was tried and exiled in Corinth (Syracuse mother-city). Ducezio came back to Sicily and founded Kale Akte before dying of illness.
