89. Giuseppe Muscatello (11/10/1866 – 8/2/1951)

Surgeon and academic, born in Augusta, Muscatello worked as Pathologist at the University of Pavia, where he made ​​important studies on embolism, thrombosis, suture of the arteries, tumors of the rectum, and pancreatitis. In 1923 he became Senator of the Kingdom of Italy and between 1924 and the 1937 he was Rector of the University of Catania. Muscatello was also a nominee for the Nobel Prize in Medicine.
