108. Giuseppe Rapisardi (1799 – 1853)

Born in Catania, Rapisardi was a He was a prolific author of portraits. His art is inspired by the stylistic canons of neoclassicism, with romantic style.

Rapisardi mostly worked in his hometown and its surroundings. He used to put in his works views of the Etna volcano as seen from specific angle of the city commissioning the painting. The painter Giuseppe Sciuti was among his scholars.
