Painter born in Sciacca (Catania), Desiderato worked in Rome for Mariano Rossi’s workshop. During his long permanence in Rome, he married a member of Sicilian noble origin, with whom he had a daughter. Returned to Sicily, he settled in Catania, the city where he spent the rest of his life. Desiderata mostly worked in Catania and its surrounding cities including Acireale and Santa Maria di Laconia. He was a teacher for Giuseppe Gandolfo and Giuseppe Rapisardi.
