Economist and politician born in Militello val di Catania, Majorana was a senator of the Kingdom of Italy in the XIII legislature, and Minister of Agriculture, Industry and Commerce of the Kingdom of Italy during the governments Depretis I and III Depretis. He was the father of Quirino, Giuseppe, Angelo Fabio and Dante Majorana, who would also cover, with time, political offices. Salvatore Majorana was also grandfather of the physic Ettore Majorana.
