Entrepreneur, film producer and movie director born in Palermo. After studying law in Palermo, Alliata decided to make a series of underwater short films in the Aeolian islands, the first of their kind in Italy, with equipment found in the United States.
Thanks to the support of Roberto Rossellini, Alliata founded the Panaria Film company and produced, among others the movies “Vulcano” and “The Golden Coach” with Anna Magnani. Additional recognitions were received by the documentaries “Scilla e Cariddi” (Venice, 1948) and “Tonnara” (Edinburgh International Film Festival, 1950).


After the closure of Panaria Film, Alliata re-focused his entrepreneurial activity to producing Sicilian ice creams and sorbets under the family brand XIV Duke of Salaparuta.
