Theater, movie ad TV actress, Rosa Anselmi (Rosina) was born in Catania and raised in a family of actors. Her acting career started very early. Rosina performed in Sicilian dialect together with her father and gradually took over more relevant roles until she joined the theatrical group of Nino Martoglio and Mimi Aguglia. With Martoglio and Aguglia, Anselmi toured in North America, playing for Italian-Americans. She returned to Sicily in 1910, hired as a leading lady in “La Commedia Siciliana” directed by Angelo Musco and she will cover various comedy roles on stage, TV and movies for the next 50 years. In 1938, together with Michele Abruzzo, Anselmi started her own theater company.
