Born in Catania, Aldo Clementi studied composition and piano learning from Alfredo Sangiorgi and Goffredo Petrassi. In 1959 he won second prize in the ISCM competition with “Episodic” (1958), and in 1963 he took first prize in the same competition, with Sette scene da “Collage” (1961).
Aldo Clementi taught music theory at the University of Bologna from 1971 to 1992. He died in 2011.
