Astronomer, Isabella Pagano works at the Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (Inaf) of Catania and heads of two important missions of European Space Agency (ESA) committed to studying exoplanets. After graduating in Catania and working as researcher in Colorado, since 2007 Pagano directs two ESA projects: Plato and Cheops, along with an international team involving other observatories and research institutes.

Plato and Cheops (CHaracterizing ExOPlanet Satellite) are the names of artificial satellites aiming to study extrasolar planets, celestial bodies suspended in space and gravitating around stars other than the Sun but visible in the dark of night.
